Pets

The first time Gandalf stayed at Lothlorien Cottage he did bring a Welsh Dragon along.

Normally however, we prefer guests to keep their dragons on the Black Mountain which is very close and convenient for dragons*.

However, if you are travelling with a well-behaved dog (or two), please let us know.

As long as you take responsibility for their good behaviour, and we are warned in advance, they are welcome.

*(There are plenty of caves in the Black Mountain so dragons do very well there, and they usually get on very well with the dinosaurs in the nearby Dinosaur Park.)

Midnight Feast: With all your own cooking facilities you can get back late after a long day's hiking, be starving, and dish up the feast of your choice at one in the morning without wondering what tip to pay a waiter at that time of the night.

At the same time, having your own catering facilities means you can explore the culinary delights of the area yourself by buying some of the tempting ingredients that are part of the local way of life, and enjoy incorporating them into your own meals.

Farmers Markets: Visit the local farmers markets or indoor market places or local suppliers of food - ask people for recommendations.

Enrich your holiday experience by getting a true taste of the local favourites and specialties.

Wales in One Word

If Wales had to be summed up in one single word,
it would probably have to be:

Inspiring

It has inspired artists and writers, myths and legends, priests and kings
and it is still an inspiration to thousands of visitors, walkers,
climbers, cyclists, golfers, swimmers, sailors, hang-gliders,
equestrians, bird watchers and to a myriad of other pursuits including
things as famous as Welsh Choirs, or as obscure as Bog Snorkelling,
but they are all here so... be inspired!

The Brecon Beacons National Park is the closest mountainous National Park to London and the M4 corridor. It is one of Britain’s Breathing Spaces - a fabulous place to stay for your family holiday, relaxing short break or a fun filled weekend! An area of outstanding history and geology - it has something for everybody!

The cottage is on the edge of the Fforest Fawr Geopark, with some of the most stunning natural and man-made attractions in Wales, including the breathtaking Carreg Cennen Castle, The National Showcaves Centre for Wales, Craig-y-nos Country Park, the wilderness area of the Black Mountain, Pen y Fan (the highest mountain in southern Britain), and the Brecon Mountain Railway.

The National Show Caves Centre has caves extending 17 km into the Black Mountain - recently voted Britain's finest Natural Wonder. There is also one of the largest Dinosaur Parks in the world here.

A few minutes walk from the cottage is the popular Trotting Track at Tairgwaith. If you are attending any of the horse-racing there, this is the most convenient accommodation you could get for your stay.

You may consider taking a trip in a hot air balloon from one of the two companies within 10 miles of the cottage.

Waterbabies will love swimming from one of the wonderful Welsh beaches (or enjoy the open air swimming pool at Brynamman which has the last lido in South West Wales), and if there is any energy, left go mountainbiking along one of the 16 breathtaking cross country trails in the Brecons or just chill out and enjoy wonderful Wales.

This is a great base from which to explore the magnificent Welsh coastline, with fabulous sandy beaches to the south, Swansea Bay and the Mumbles and the Gower Peninsula - designated Britain’s first area of outstanding natural beauty in 1957 with its secluded coves, sandy beaches, surfing heaven and ruined castles, and the Worms Head and Rhossili or enjoy the 22 km Millennium Cycle Path along coast.

Testimonials
See what some of the guests at the cottage say about their stay

ENG: “It was such an amazing stay in this wonderful palace/cottage.

There are no details missing, it is absolutely cosy, spacious and elegantly decorated. We were surprisingly welcome with wine, bread and sweets, what a great treat!

The area is very nice for retreating and enjoying nature and Welsh hospitality. We could not have had a better stay. Thank you.”

Mr. Jose Luis A.
Malaga, Spain

Mrs. Francoise V
Dunkerque, Northern France

“The cottage is beautifully presented, the little touches like the bread, wine, sweets etc made us feel very welcome, everything was there after a long journey.

We really enjoyed our stay – Thank You”
